Accountancy Salary Survey 2010 


Moving Finance Jobs Still Carries a Premium - But Recession Makes Presence Felt

  • Job seekers can expect, on average, 8% more on their current salary
  • Down from 10.1 % in  previous years

The premium salary for a professional moving accountancy and finance jobs, has reduced during the recession by 2.1%, on average.

Whilst most existing employees have found their pay reviews frozen, our research shows how salaries for new joiners have also fluctuated year on year - depending on the sector or geographical region.

Salaries for Finance & Accountancy Jobs Outside of London

  • Salaries in the Northern Home Counties suffered the biggest premium reductions at 4.3%,
  • North West salariessaw a 3.8% reduction
  • The Southern Home Counties saw a salary reduction of 3.2% 
  • Salaries in the Thames Valley were reduced by 1.2%
  • There was a 1% reduction in North Bucks, Beds, Northants.
  • Salaries in the Midlands and Middlesex remain broadly similar to 2008 levels.

Salaries for Accountancy & Finance Jobs in London

  • The average salaries for the average permanent public sector jobs, has actually increased by 4%
  • Salaries for jobs within our not for profit sector have increased by 2.3%
  • Salaries for London's commerce & industry jobs have seen a lower increase of 0.5%
  • All of the above increases have been fuelled by high demand in these areas.

The average pay increase that can now be expected across the UK when moving finance jobs is 8%. - although some regional candidates and those at the newly qualified level are still finding salary premiums depressed.
