Financial Analyst

Financial considerations are at the root of all major business decisions. A financial Analyst is responsible for providing this financial support to clients and colleagues enabling them to make sound business decisions and set strong forecasts for the future. The role can vary from company to company in larger companies the role is more concerned with strategic analysis; in smaller organisations, a financial analyst may also be responsible for the collection and preparation of accounts.

The Financial Analyst will be tasked with clear budgetary planning for the future, both short and long term, and need to advise companies on the financial implications of any decision before proceeding. In addition, care must be taken to ensure that financial practices are in line with all statutory legislation and regulations.
Financial Analysts may also be known as Financial Managers or Business Analysts.

Typical activities include:
• Assisting in the preparation of accurate and substantiated budgets and forecasts.
• Providing and interpreting financial information.
• Month end duties to specific deadlines.
• Monitoring and interpreting cash flows and predicting future trends.
• Analysing change and advising accordingly.
• Formulating strategic and long-term business plans.
• Streamlining existing processes to maximise the amount of time to undertake value adding analysis and providing insight.
• Analysing competitors and market trends.
• Liaising with auditors to ensure annual monitoring is carried out.
• Developing external relationships with appropriate contacts e.g. auditors, solicitors, bankers and statutory organisations such as the Inland Revenue.
• Arranging new sources of finance for a company's debt facilities.
• Keeping abreast of changes within regulations and legislation.

• Strong communication skills at all levels.
• Results driven – you must be proactive, hit your deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
• Have a clear view of prioritisation.
• You must be resilient and able to drive change.
